2025 Redesign! - Our redesigned Brass MaxStat is 30% more compact simplifying installation. The new design also eliminates the need for rubber O-rings that can fail over time leading to leaks. Lastly, coolant flow is critical for a high functioning heater installation. The MaxStat now comes in Arm and Elbow configurations to direct the output hose in the most efficient way possible.
- Form Factor - The overall size has been reduced making installation simpler while maintaining the same coolant flow rate. 44mm denotes the Thermostats Flange Diameter, not the port sizes.
- Elbow vs Arm Feature - The Maxstat now comes as a 5/8'' Elbow port or 5/8'' Arm port option that further improves installation.
- O-ring Elimination - The new design eliminates the reliance on O-Rings to seal the thermostat inside greatly improving the reliability.
- Installation Markers - Stamped into the MaxStat are installation markers that eliminate confusion when installing, point the ENG indicator toward the Engine and the RAD indicator toward the Radiator.
- Thermostat Replacement - Replacement thermostats can be purchased on our Parts page or at your local NAPA store (P/N: THM 115). Use a blow torch to heat the RAD side of the MaxStat until it gives off consistent smoke (perform in a well ventilated area and use proper air filtering PPE). Once the smoke subsides, let cool and use a wrench to remove the threaded end. Use a snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring and thermostat. Assemble in reverse order. Clean up threads with a wire wheel, contact us 888-964-0135 for thread sealing options.
MaxStat - Inline Coolant Bypass Thermostat:
All heaters in the industry perform as a function of how hot the coolant is and how much coolant is flowing through the heater core. As the radiator cools down the engine, it causes the engine thermostat to close, which cuts off all coolant flow to the heater core. The MaxStat adds a secondary inline thermostat (180F Standard) to the vehicle’s coolant system, which diverts coolant to the heater core when the engine thermostat would otherwise have closed down. Essentially it eliminates the thermal cycling that affects almost all heaters in the market. Optional 192F thermostat is available if requested before shipping.
